Protesters were fired upon, beaten and injured by police after thousands stormed into Kenya’s Parliament and set part to fire it.
And at least five people were killed during protests over a new tax proposal Tuesday in Kenya’s capital as police fired live defense on unarmed protesters after thousands stormed into Kenya’s Parliament in Nairobi.

The protests targeted Kenya’s president William Ruto, who despite being acclaimed in Washington during a recent state dinner hosted by Biden, has become deeply unpopular at home over tax hikes that have enraged the middle class. His ruling party pushed through a new tax bill on Tuesday, even as protesters set fire to the parliament building.
At 3p.m. Tuesday, a crowd of protesters breached Parliament buildings in Nairobi’s city center after entering the heavily fortified compound. Gunshots could be heard from Kenya’s Parliament, and several people were reported dead on social media. The legislation, extra added the Finance Bill 2024, as it was introduced in Kenya’s Parliament for debate in May. It calls for increases in taxable incomes, excise duties and value-added taxes and introduces new income tax categories to the country’s finance laws.
The tax legislation put forward by Ruto’s government was first debated in Kenya’s Parliament last week. It sailed through to its last stage of debate on Tuesday after 195 lawmakers, mainly from the president’s ruling party, voted for it. Voting against it were 106 members, mainly from minority opposition parties in the Parliament. The legislation was passed Tuesday as protests continued in various parts of the country.
At least one person who is Rex Kanyike a Masai by tribe, 29 old , died of a gunshot wound during last week’s protests. Human Rights groups said more than 200 other people have been injured since the protests began last week. Kanyike had left home at 4 p.m. Thursday with his best friend to join the protests and was hit when police fired live defending into a crowd of protesters.

Accident Crime: 11 that Perish in Mityana Road Accident Previously their Relatives want Justice

According to Wamala Region police spokesperson, Rachael Kawala recently said, the driver, who has not yet been identified, lost control of the vehicle that was on a slope, causing it to overturn, resulted the death of 11 people on the spot on Wednesday.
The accident involved an Isuzu forward truck, Reg No. UBA 605A, silver in color, which was traveling from Mityana Town to Bukuya with market vendors on board.
According to Wamala Region police spokesperson, Rachael Kawala, the driver, who has not been identified yet, lost control of the vehicle on a slope, causing it to overturn, resulting in the death of 11 people on the spot. “Others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Mityana Hospital and Bukuya Health Centre IV for treatment,” she said.“The scene of the crime has been visited by traffic officers, and the bodies of the deceased were been conveyed to Mityana hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination,”she added.
As for today, some of the deceased's relatives have came back to the police to show there sympathy and ask for justice about their people who died in a carelessness way. One of the head in this case Ms. Hellen Katamba, yesterday at the police said that they can't leave there people die and it end seamlessly.
He also in her case included having justice for either the careless driver of the Fuso who undermined his duty that he has a lot of people to take care of when driving.
In the response from the Police Officer, Mityana Police Post Thomas Aldo under this case said, justice could have been given to them but since the event has just been reported, they should be given sometime to make investigations clear
Therefore, "we cannot just abruptly capture everyone who is not concerned about it, it's our job to first know where the driver went and have him for the better judgement" Aldo said.
The allies of this case crime where also told to come back for more details about the crime and this could be hired to the court.
Politics: Newly Appointed Minister Phiona Nyamutoro survives being Shot

The Minister of State for Minerals and Energy, Phiona Nyamutooro, survived a shooting incident involving a private security guard in Kisoro District.
The security personnel, who was guarding the National Cement Factory, a branch of the Devki Group, already had a bullet in the chamber, according to police officers who were with the minister at the scene said.
Lawmakers stated that illegal mining activities were being conducted on the land, and the minister had gone there for an inspection on how things are moving.

The guards allegedly received orders to fend off anyone approaching the ground. Nyamutooro has requested the police to arrest the Directors and owners of the Factory. The guards were disarmed and detained. She has also requested a heavy deployment of security in the area.
